WIPO Names 2008 As Record Year For Trademarks

The number of international trademark applications soared to record levels last year, but a slowdown is expected in 2009, according to a statement released by the World Intellectual Property Organization. WIPO received a record 42,075 filings under the Madrid System in 2008, representing 5 percent growth, according to WIPO.

Masters Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP)

Did you know that WIPO and ARIPO sponsor a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property at African University in Zimbabwe? I did not but it sounds very interesting and I kind of wish I could attend. You could even win a scholarship. Hurry up though, deadline is March 15, 2009.

On May 4, 2009, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and Africa University launched the 2nd edition of the Masters Degree in intellectual property (MIP) program at Africa University, Mutare, Zimbabwe.
