Smiley Face Update

December 11, 2008, Rospatent finally issued a statement denying that a smiley face Trademark was issued to a Russian company named Superfon and its president Oleg Teterinby. A Rospatent official said that the Trademark issued to Superfon was that of their logo and that the smiley face was part of the design. The statement further said "the smiley does not identify the company and cannot be used as its trademark and cannot be registered as such".
